Mobile Banking

September 2011 | Design

In May of 2011, Ally started working on their flagship Mobile Banking app. This was an especially interesting project to work on due to the newness of mobile design for me as well as the aggressive timeline. The objective was to take the desktop authenticated experience and translate it into an experience optimized for small touch screens. This required a lot of culling and rearranging of content as well as breaking ourselves of thinking in desktop metaphors. It was challenging, at times frustrating, but always absorbing. When finally complete the app should allow remote deposit capture, the ability to pay other people through email or PayPal, plus all the basics like bill pay and transfers. The design utilizes generous hit areas and reduced tapping to speed up navigation and entry while on the go.
